Children Have Teeth Too

We enjoy seeing children and recommend that you bring your child in to see the dentist around the age of two and a half. If you notice abnormal white, brown or black spots on your child's teeth, the child seems to be in distress, or has experienced an oral trauma you should bring your child in sooner.

We use a "tell-show-do" behavioral modification approach when treating our young patients. Each office visit is positive with a lot of positive reinforcement, energy, and fun prizes at the end. The purpose of bringing your child to see the dentist at an early age is to make sure that their teeth are healthy, and to go over brushing and homecare with you and your child. We try to help your child develop good oral hygiene habits as well as help them get used to visiting the dentist. We watch to see that their teeth are erupting in a favorable fashion, and will tell you when we think it is time or necessary to see an orthodontist.

Occasionally we may suggest a mild sedative, or nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to help make your child feel less anxious in the dental office. We will discuss all of your treatment options and be glad to answer any questions you may have. We enjoy seeing children and take pride in watching them grow up with a healthy, happy smile.
